Our family at Mitchell Funeral Care and Cremations joins alongside with the Boyd family to inform those concerned that Mr. Melvin Garnett Boyd, Sr.,  has permanently changed his address from Earth to Glory as of Tuesday night, November 13, 2018,  while at his 1977A Nixonton Road, Elizabeth City, NC address, while surrounded by family and friends. 

On Friday, November 16, 2018, the hours of 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. have been designated by the Boyd family, for those who want to spend intimate time and pay their respects to Mr. Melvin, at the Whiteville Grove A.M.E Zion Church, 1633 Nixonton Road, Elizabeth City, NC. The celebration of Life will commence on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1166 Ball Road, Elizabeth City, NC where the Rev. Frederick Z. Godfrey is Pastor and will be officiating. The Rev. William Bonner, will deliver the eulogy. Melvin's earthly bed of rest will be in the New Oak Grove Cemetery. Guest are being received at the home of the deceased. 

Left to remember, laugh and love on the memories of Melvin G. Boyd, Sr., are: his loving wife, Debbie L. Boyd, of the home; one daughter, Andrea Boyd of Elizabeth City, NC; two sons, Emmanuel Boyd (Charna) and Melvin G. Boyd, Jr., (Lakresha) of Elizabeth City, NC; four sisters, Mary Whitehurst and Phyllis Price (Samuel) of Elizabeth City, NC, Patricia Johnson and Catherine Boyd, both of Knightdale, NC; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Final Care and Compassionate Services are being expressed to the Boyd and connected families, with uncompromising dignity by the Mitchell Funeral Care and Cremations.
