Janet Lee Jimison

Janet Lee “Punky” Jimison, age 71, of Harbinger, North Carolina, left this world peacefully to be with her Savior on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Sentara Medical Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Janet was born on September 1, 1951, in Georgetown, Ohio, to Ellora and Walter Griffith. She was a loving sister to Ronnie Griffith (Wanda), Jim Griffith (Gloria), Cheryl Bailey (Eddie), Joyce Kattine (Roger), Glen Griffith, and Tammy Dempsey (Jim). She was also loved by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She attended Georgetown High School and graduated with the class of 1969.

In 1970, Janet married her love, Samuel Lee Jimison. They spent a golden 52 years together, full of love and devotion. Janet and Sam were the devoted parents of Amy Jo Everette (Aubrey) and Stacy Jo Seigla. She was a very special Mamaw who gave unconditional love to her grandchildren, her ‘Special K’s,’ Kayla, Kassidy, Kimberly, Kathryn Seigla, and Erykah and Gyanna Everette. She was also a proud and loving  Mamaw to her great grand baby, Waylen Charles, and was full of excitement to meet her second great grand baby.

She dedicated her life to Christ and walked the most pure, inspiring path to the beautiful place she is now rejoicing in with her Jesus. She spent a big part of her life worshipping and serving at Georgetown Church of Christ. 

Her fierce love for her family stays in our hearts as she is now loving her people from a place she longed for and prayed for, full of peace and happiness. She carried a presence that impacted each person that came to know her, and each person who came to know her came to love her.

Her tenderness, her silliness, her stubbornness, and her never-ending faith, all made Janet into what became the brightest light in so many people’s lives. She loved fiercely and lived determinedly with grace. Our Punky will be forever missed, but forever celebrated as she lives on within the hearts and lives of her family and loved ones.

A celebration of life is planned for June 25, 2023, at 4:00 PM, in Harbinger, NC.
