He attended the public schools in Currituck County, NC and was a member of Pleasant Branch Baptist Church in Powells Point, NC. He leaves to cherish his memories: Wife, Billie (Kate) Jones, Children, Gale Lester, Tina Davis, Charlie Jones, Tracie Miller, Tameka Murray; siblings- Rufus Jones, Johnny Jones (Gloria), Delos Jones Everett, Carrie Jones Patterson (Eugene); and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, neices, nephews, cousins and friends.
