Carlton “Sleepy” Etheridge Obituary
We pause to announce to all on the passing of our beloved, Carlton Eugene Etheridge affectionately known to ALL as "SLEEPY" who transitioned from this earthly life on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the Elizabeth City Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Life Celebration Services will be held on Saturday, February 6 2021 at Mitchell Funeral Care and Cremations at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Samuel K. Shaw, III delivering the words of comfort. Interment will follow at the West Lawn Cemetery. An earthly glimpse and stroll of Sleepy will take place at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Sleepy leaves to cherish his memories: loving wife of the home, Myra Joyce Etheridge; three children, Donnell Leathers (Marilyn) of Fayetteville, NC, Vera Griffin (Roy) of Elizabeth City, NC and Tawanda Etheridge of Paramus, NJ; his mother, Beatrice "Bea" Hill of Elizabeth City, NC; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Waverly Knight of Elizabeth City, NC and Juanita Williams of Elizabeth City, NC; two brothers-in-law, Samuel Shaw, Jr., (Jeanette) of Waterbury, CT and Alvin P. Shaw of Camden, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
