Willie "Money" McKinley White

Our beloved, Willie McKinley White, 77 of Elizabeth City, NC and affectionately known as "Money", departed from this earthly life on Sunday, May 14, 2023. 

A viewing and visitation for Mr. White will take place at the funeral home on Friday, May 19, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. 

Willie was born on June 26, 1945, in Elizabeth City, NC to the late Ruth Brooks White and was later raised by his grandmother, Alpine Watson. Willie attended Samuel Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Moyock, NC, and became a Deacon in the church. Willie worked at Elizabeth City State University for 42 years where he retired. Willie was happily married to the love of his life, Mary White for 57 years. Willie loved his family dearly and he made sure we knew that often.

Besides spending time with his family and friends, Willie loved to talk and rejoice about the Lord and how blessed he was. He has touched many lives with his generosity and passion for life.

Willie is preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Roland White; daughter, Doris Celestine Etheridge; sister Joyce Whidbee Robinson; and brother Walter Whidbee.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: loving wife Mary White of the home; granddaughter, Dominique Etheridge-Johnson (Feronte), great grandchildren, Zohnique (Muffin) and Zontay (Lil Man) as he would call him and they are of Elizabeth City, NC; aunt Edith Woodley of Elizabeth City, NC; uncle Leeotis "Moondog" Brooks of Elizabeth City, NC; sisters-in-law, Viola Whidbee (Walter) of Flint, MI and Charlotte Spence (Calvin) of Elizabeth City, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and, friends.
