Shanu (Lamont) Gallop was born September 3, 1970 in Elizabeth City, NC. Lamont was the son of Sharron Campbell. Lamont attended, baptized and joined Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He attended Sunday School and church at Mt. Carmel until he moved from the area. Lamont attended schools in the Elizabeth City Pasquotank County School system. He was a 1988 graduate of Northeastern High School. Lamont attended N.C. A & T University for one year.
After that Lamont made the decision to join the Army branch of the military. Lamont was stationed in the24th Mechanized Division in Fort Stewart Georgia.
