Samuel Keith Obituary

Mr. Samuel Keith peacefully passed away in his home on April 5, 2021 after a long illness. Sam was born October 17, 1936, to the late Emma Patricia Phillips Keith-Duffy and LeRoy Keith in Dalzell, South Carolina. Sam was preceded in death by his brother LeRoy Keith Jr. and sister Helen Keith.

After Sam graduated high school, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. from 1953-1956 with an honorable discharge. Sam worked for the Veterans Health Administration Hospital. Sam retired from the New York Transit Authority, where he received numerous safety awards throughout his 25 years of service. As a believer in hard work and provider for his family, Sam rejoined the workforce as a skycap at Norfolk International Airport retiring in 2015.

Sam enjoyed traveling with his wife and participating in activities with his children and family. His favorite activities were cruising, hosting family dinners, and barbeques. One of Sam’s passion was reading about African American history. He was an avid collector of books by African American authors. Sam will be greatly missed by all who was blessed to know him.
