Michael Jefferson, Sr.

Michael "Mike" Jefferson, age 66, passed away peacefully July 19th, 2023, due to stage four chronic obstructive pulmonary disease along with other complications. He was born May 27th, 1957 in Franklin County NC to Beaulah and Elijah Jefferson. He married his high school sweetheart and love Earnestine Stokes Jefferson on July 8th of 1985. Michael loved to work on cars, stoves, refrigerators, heaters, and anything else that needed to be fixed. This was his hobby and also a way he earned a livable wage. He worked as a body collision repair specialist, mechanic and propane technician for a number of years. He shared his love for eating and cooking good food with many. He was one that cooked on the grill during the family gatherings and wouldn't hesitate to let you sneak a piece to see how good it was. Grilled ribs and chicken were some of his favorites to prepare and eat. He always believed in checking in on family members and other associates to be sure they were safe and doing well. He would always let everyone know to be safe and be careful.

Mike is survived by his wife, Earnestine Stokes Jefferson, sons, Michael Jefferson, Jr., (D'Juana Jefferson) and Walter Elijah Jefferson; five sisters, Dorothy Kearney, Martha Collins, Roselyn Edgerton, Marjorie Leonard, and  Juanita Alston; one brother, Carl Jefferson; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by brother William Jefferson, Elijah Jefferson and a sister Barbra Ann Perry. All of these he loved and touched deeply.

Life Celebration Services for Mr. Jefferson will take place on Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Care and Cremations Chapel. A wake service will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Carl Wardrett, Officiating.
