Our beloved, Linwood Earl Jackson, Sr., departed from this earthly life on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
Life Celebration Services will take place on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. at Ellis Temple Missionary Baptist Church, Winfall, NC., with Pastor Charles Eason, Officiating, and Elder Quinton Jordan, delivering the Eulogy. Interment will follow in the Perry Cemetery, Hertford, NC. A viewing will take place at the funeral home on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Tap was preceded in death by his father, Nathan; his mother, Mable and two brothers, Samuel and Albert. He leaves to cherish his memories, loving wife Valerie; sons, Linwood Jr., Jamie, and Tremayne (TJ); two daughters, Christine Timpson (Timothy), and Angelina Jackson of Elizabeth City, NC, and son Gervis Armstrong of Atlanta, GA. Also, to cherish his memories are five sisters: Erma Davis, Plymouth, NC; Lillie Wiggins, and Louise Jackson of Elizabeth City, NC; Teressa Jackson, Willow Spring, NC; and Janice Hubert (Timothy) of Benson, NC; six brothers: Thurlis and Robert (Jackie) Roper, NC; Nathan Jr., (Susie) Plymouth, NC; Johnnie (Margaret), Jessie, and Ervin (Zena) of Elizabeth City, NC. His extended family through marriage, Elder Quinton Jordan, Hertford, NC; Wyatt Jordan, Jr. (Betty) and June Lightfoot, Elizabeth City, NC; Lynn Jordan, Chesapeake, VA; Teressa Blanchard (Kenneth), Belvidere, NC; Joyce Lee, Winfall, NC, Ann Cobbs, and Earl Cobbs (Brenda), Newport News, VA; Stanley Cobbs, Stoney Mountain, GA, and Howard Irving (Tammy ), Elizabeth City, NC.
“Cool Poppa” had 22 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, two god-daughters, Courtney Hunter and Iyanna Midgette, two aunts, Gladys Mosby, Decatur, GA, and Mable Jordan, Hertford, NC; a host of nieces, nephews cousins, friends; Stanley Wiggins, a beloved nephew, and one special friend, Eric (Kiddo) Butts. Strong roots, much love, and a couple of forevers. Tap, you will never be forgotten, but always remembered.
