Keri-Anne Oroszy Owens passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Keri was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at three years old. She fought a lifelong battle against this disease with grace and dignity. Keri was born in Malden, MA, on May 20, 1975, to her mother, Suzanne Mary Oroszy and her late father, John Joseph Oroszy, Jr. Keri grew up in Plymouth, MA., until the family moved to Virginia in 1984 and eventually settled in Chesapeake, VA. As an adult, Keri moved around the country living in places such as the Pacific Northwest and The Blue Ridge Mountains. Most recently, she lived in Elizabeth City N.C.
Keri was a graduate of the Great Bridge High School class of 1993. She furthered her education and achieved the title of Licensed Practical Nurse and Phlebotomist. Keri enjoyed nursing and loved working with patients of all ages. She worked in several physician offices, where she touched many lives during her career. Keri enjoyed travel, theater, concerts, and spending quality time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. Keri loved animals, and always enjoyed visiting aquariums and zoos across the country. Her favorite animals were elephants and she had quite a collection of figurines. Keri was an avid New England Patriots fan and was always very proud of all their Super Bowl wins. She would challenge anyone who questioned her loyalty.
Keri is survived by her caring family. Her memory will be cherished by her devoted only child, Timothy Oroszy Owens, and her loving mother, Suzanne. Her two loyal sisters and brother-in-laws hold Keri close in their hearts, Jennifer Lyn Kocen and Husband Craig, and Karyn Beth Gwin and Husband Trevor. She leaves behind loving nieces and nephews, Craig “CJ” Kocen Jr., Jenna Lyn Kocen, Anastasia Leigh Gwin, and Alexander John Gwin. Keri also leaves behind her best childhood friend and honorary sister, Cherie Bowles Johnson. Her constant furry companions Gracie Mae (Dog) and Franklin Brady (Cat) will miss her dearly.
Memorial contributions may be made in Keri’s name to the charity of your choice.
