Joman Edward Stone

Our beloved, Joman Edward Stone, 27 of Elizabeth City, NC, departed from this life on Monday, June 26, 2023. 

Life Celebration Services will take place on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Care and Cremations Chapel with Pastor Tony Rice, Officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Dove's Landing Cemetery. 

Joman Edward Stone was born December 12, 1995 in Elizabeth City, NC to Willis (Jo Jo) McCullen of Fayetteville, NC and Dorcia D. Stone of Elizabeth City, NC. Joman gave his life to Christ and was baptized in 2012. He played instruments such as the keyboard and drums in different churches. He attended elementary school in Perquimans County but later attended and graduated from Northeastern High School in 2014. He loved sports and while attending Northeastern High School, he was on the wrestling, football and track teams. He was a loyal Philadelphia Eagles fan as well. After high school he moved to Upstate New York where he learned trades such as electrician and mechanic and worked in these fields. After about 8 years upstate, he had recently moved back to Elizabeth City.

Joman was known for his quiet demeanor, being a jokester, and his big caring and loving heart. His hobby was making music and creating rap songs and was quite good at it. He loved kids, especially his nieces and nephews and always made sure they knew that he loved them.

Joman was preceded in death by his grandmothers Brenda Respass and Mary L. Stone both of Elizabeth City, NC, and his grandfathers Benjamin Respass and Roosevelt Stone, both of Elizabeth City, NC.

He leaves to mourn but cherishing his memories: his father Willis (Jo Jo) McCullen of Fayetteville, NC and mother Dorcia D. Stone of ELizabeth City, NC, five brothers Andre Stone of Albany, NY, Antonio McCullen of Texas, Tremayne Stone of Elizabeth City, NC, Nathaniel McCullen (Nanette) of Delaware, Detrique Stone of Albany, NY, two sisters Demetria Mitchell of Elizabeth City, NC and Danisha Stone of Albany, NY. Uncles Devin Stone of Albany, NY and Ersell McCullen (Verna) of Jessup, Ga. Aunts Katrina Hill (Charles) and Zena Jackson (Ervin) both of Elizabeth City, NC. 14 nieces and nephews and host of cousins and friends.
