Our beloved, Jessie "Gene" James Harney, age 76, of Elizabeth City, NC, departed this life on Friday, August 22, 2025.

Life Celebration Service will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Elizabeth City, NC. Interment will follow in Union Chapel Church Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the home of the deceased, 607 Terry Street, Elizabeth City, NC.
