Irene (Walker) Griffin

Our beloved, "Big Mama", Irene Walker Griffin age 82 of Elizabeth, City, NC, departed this earthly life on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. 

Life Celebration Services will take place on Monday, July 17, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Care and Cremations Chapel with Bishop David L. White, Jr., Officiating, and Rev. Rondell Munden, delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Dove's Landing Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Rondell) of Elizabeth City, NC; Ronnie Griffin of Dayton, Ohio; Dana Griffin of Elizabeth City, NC; Tiffany Griffin of Plymouth, NC;  David Griffin of Elizabeth City, NC, and Phenas Jackson of Elizabeth City, NC. Twenty two grandchildren:  Eric Griffin of Pittsburgh, PA; Vanessa McGilberry (Edward) of Elizabeth City, NC; Tyshone Hampton of Elizabeth City, NC; Wanita Guzman (Greg) of Pittsburgh, PA; Jenine Mims (Jason) of Pittsburgh, PA;  Dr. Lashonda Bonsu (Kisseih) of Elizabeth City, NC; Antoine Hedgebeth of Powells Point, NC;  Antonio Hedgebeth of Powells Point, NC; Teneika Griffin of Suffolk, VA; Jasmine Griffin of Virginia Beach, VA; Tyana Griffin of Elizabeth City, NC; Mekheil Griffin of Chesapeake, VA; Zyaire of Chesapeake, VA; Jayda Griffin of Elizabeth City, NC; Taliyah Griffin of Newport News, VA.; Terry Griffin of Elizabeth City, NC; Khemel Griffin of Elizabeth City, NC; Darrell Griffin of Plymouth, NC; Dazuan Griffin of Elizabeth City, NC; Tamia Griffin of Plymouth of NC; Kentrell Griffin of Plymouth, NC; fifteen great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
