Earl James Smith of Elizabeth City, NC departed this life on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at his residence.

His life will be celebrated on Saturday March 6, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Mitchell Funeral Care and Cremations Chapel with Rev. Dr. Vernell White, Officiating.

He leaves to carry on his legacy: lifelong partner, Margaret Matthews; three daughters, Kawana Hall of North Carolina, Michica Matthews of Georgia and Ebony Matthews of Louisana; three sons, Earl Smith, Jr of Louisana, D'Antoni "Dee" Grayer and Enrico "Coco" Grayer both of California; seven grandchildren, Aniyah, Zachary, Jr, Kaileb, Keiosha, Chase, RaQuel and Bella (Pet); a godson, Rashawn Baum of North Carolina; two sisters, Mary Gibson and Daisy Jackson of Texas; one brother, Isiah Jackson of Louisana; one aunt, Jennette Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
