Donald Clay Cherry, Sr.

Our beloved, USN RET. Donald Clay Cherry, Sr., departed from this earthly life on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. 

Life Celebration Service will take place on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at Mitchell Funeral Care and Cremations Chapel. A walk-through viewing will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Interment will follow in the West Lawn Cemetery. 

Donald married Patricia Dance Cherry in August 1981 and to this union, six children were born: Daryll, Sr., (Michelle) of Winston-Salem, NC, Donald Cherry, Jr., of Virginia, Andre, Sr., (Rhonda) of Elizabeth City, NC, Donetta of Rocky Mount, NC, Deitra and Devin of Elizabeth City, NC.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and three brothers: Constance Cherry, Jr., Julius Cherry and Dwight Cherry. He leaves to cherish in his memories along with his wife and children; one brother, Dennis (Leolia) of Jamaica, NY; two sisters, Deborah Johnson of Elizabeth City, NC and Alisa White of Greenville, NC; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Cherry of South Carolina; five grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
