On Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the age of 49, God dispatched angels to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center and closed the weary eyes of Coach Danny "Danny D" Demetric Lewis.

Life Celebration Services will occur on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Care and Cremations Chapel with Pastor Tyrone Smith, Officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
