On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, God gently closed the eyelids of Charles Henry Overton, Sr., at the Sentara Albemarle Medical Center.
Life Celebration Services will occur on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at noon at Mitchell Funeral Care and Cremations Chapel, with Pastor Charlie Bowe Officiating. Interment will follow with military rites at Leigh's Temple AME Zion Church Cemetery, Hertford, NC. He will lie in state for one hour before the service. The family is receiving friends at the home of the deceased, 397 Muddy Creek Road, Hertford, NC.
Charles leaves to cherish his loving memories: wife, Patricia S. Overton, of the home; one daughter, Tanya Stevens (Dana) of New Haven, CT; two sons, Charles Overton, Jr., of Flint, MI and Brian Overton of Davison, MI; one grandson, Dante Stevens of New Haven, CT; three sisters, Roberta Overton, Rosetta Overton, and Sandra Overton all of Hertford, NC; two brothers, Thomas Overton of Laurelton, NY and Marvin Overton (Perlinda) of Savannah, GA.
