Anthony Mitchell Obituary

On Wednesday, December 27, 2023, our Son, Father, Grandfather, and Uncle, Anthony Ray Mitchell, closed his eyes and slipped into eternal rest.

Anthony, known affectionately as "Eddie T" by family & friends, was a lifelong resident of Portsmouth, Virginia before moving to Dayton, Ohio to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He was a 1980 Graduate of Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Virginia and he excelled in football { # 26}. He was an outdoorsman loving hunting and fishing. After High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, touring both Okinawa and the Philippines.

"Eddie T" joined Grove Baptist Church at a very early age, singing in the choir. He enjoyed playing baseball and football. His favorite Baseball team was N.Y. Mets because of Granddaddy Raymond and favorite football team was then Baltimore Colts and now Indianapolis Colts. "Eddie T" was a great jokester always keeping you laughing. He was a very quick learner resulting in several promotions while in the Marine Corps.

He was predeceased by his Mother and Brother, Alma Spellman Mitchell Estwick and Andre' Carnell Mitchell. He leaves to cherish his memory his Father Arthur Mitchell Sr., One daughter Antonia Mitchell of Dayton Ohio, two Sons, Michael Mitchell {Taylor} of St. Louis, Missouri and Marc Collins-Mitchell of Norfolk, Virginia. Eight grandchildren Michael Jr, Peytyn, Ealyn, Harper, Jaiyana, Daniel, Dallas and Jiohnie. Five neices, Ebonee { Leon }, Mahogony, LaKeeta, Marquite' and Niya. Six nephews Andre, Arthur III { Yolanda }, Eugene, Donald Jr.{ Dymond } Aubrey { Gabrielle } and Ritchie,Jr. Two brothers Arthur Mitchell Jr, and Willie Lynch. Three Sisters Angela { Donald, Sr. }, Annette { Eddie } and Amy { Ritchie, Sr. }.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 W. Third Street, Dayton, Ohio 45428. Interment: Dayton National Cemetery.
