Rev. William Lloyd Burton, Jr.

Rev. Dr. William Lloyd Burton, Jr. was born to Mr. William Lloyd Burton, Sr. and Mrs. Elnora Winslow Burton on September 2, 1947, in Elizabeth City, NC, raised in Baltimore, MD, and passed away in Elizabeth City, NC, on January 10, 2020. An Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, he pastored at several churches in North Carolina, Alabama, Ohio, Maryland and Delaware. He also served in various organizations, including Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, the NAACP, the SCLC, the North Carolina Democratic Caucus and was a Master Mason.
Rev. Dr. William Lloyd Burton, Jr. leaves behind Brenda Burton; their sons, Edward and Eldon Burton; their daughter, Marcella Burton; granddaughter, Briana Burton; siblings, Kermit, Gerald and Laureen Burton; and myriad of cousins, nieces, nephews and family friends.
A viewing for Rev. Burton will be January 19, 2020 at 5 PM at Mt. Lebanon AME Zion Church in Elizabeth City, NC. On January 20, 2020 at St. Mark AME Zion Church in Durham, NC there will be a viewing at 12PM and memorial services will begin at 1PM.
