Our beloved, Joshua Overton, Jr.,  age 90 of 106 Harrell Street, Elizabeth City, NC, transitioned from this earthly life during the early morning hours of Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, with his loving family by his side. 

Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Corner Stone Missionary Baptist Church, Elizabeth City, NC. A viewing will take place at the funeral home on Friday, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery where he will rejoin his loving wife, Mary Cole Overton. The family will receive friends at the home of the deceased until 7:00 p.m. nightly. 

Joshua leaves to cherish his loving memories: two daughters, Patricia Thomas (Curtis) of Newport News, VA and Delphinia Claud (Stanley) of Suffolk, VA; six sons, James Overton of Portsmouth, VA, Joseph Overton and Reuben Overton, both of Elizabeth City, NC, Thomas Overton of Ashville, NC, Ronald Overton of Elizabeth City, NC and Jerry Overton of Norfolk, VA. ; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Final Care and Compassionate Services are being provided to the Overton and connected families, by Mitchell Funeral Care and Cremations, Elizabeth City.
