Carolyn Elizabeth (Jones) Ellis

Though the clouds may hang over, there will be a brighter day, in that land that they call HEAVEN, GOD shall wipe all tears away. With faith and assurance that God will see us through, The Ellis and connected families has given full ranks to the professionals at Mitchell Funeral Care and Cremations to announce the earthly transition of our lovable, sassy, straight-to-the-point mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Carolyn Elizabeth Jones Ellis. A native of Portmouth, VA, born to the late Monzell and Mildred Todd Jones, transitoned from this life peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2019 at her residence, surrounded by family and friends. 

Life Celebration Services will take place on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace and Truth Community Church, Elizabeth City, NC with Pastor Keith Smith, officiating. Following the celebration of life, the family will journey to the Olive Branch Cemetery in Portsmouth, VA where she will return home to be laid to rest beside her loving son, Corey Jones. Sacred moments of viewing and personal moments with Carolyn will take place at the funeral home on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm. 

She leaves to cherish 64 years of love to: two daughters, Amanda Minnefield and Miranda Minnefield, both of Elizabeth City, NC; eleven grandchildren; siblings, Deborah Cooper of Portsmouth, VA, Monzelle Jones, Jr., of Chesapeake, VA, Gwendolyn Jones of Portsmouth, VA, Angela Jackson (Michael) of Elizabeth City, NC, Joyce Ingram (Charles) of Alabama, Tony Jones of Portsmouth and Chevelle Moore (Kelvin) of Elizabeth City, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Final Care and Compassionate Services is being provided to the Ellis and all connected families with love, care and uncompromising dignity by Mitchell Funeral Care and Cremations, Elizabeth City.
