William Alonzo Skinner

Mr. William Alonzo Skinner, age 77 of Cambria Heights, NY, formerly of Hertford, NC, transitioned from this life on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the North Shore University Hospital. 

Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bay Branch A.M.E. Zion Church, Belvidere, NC. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery, Hertford. He will lie in state from 12:00 noon until time of service.

He leaves to cherish his life, his wife Dorothy Lightfoot Skinner, of the home, four children: Gregory Harris of Fayetteville NC, Vicki and Barry Skinner (of the home), William Howard “Lonnie” Skinner (LaVette) of Burgaw NC: Two grand daughters: Lonnisa M. Skinner of Burgaw NC and LaDana C. Ballard (Domenique) of Columbia SC; three great grandchildren: Keymel, Keora, and Kayden Ballard of Columbia SC. Sisters: Wilma Skinner Wright (Benjamin) of Jamaica, NY, Edna Skinner Worrell of St. Albans NY, Mary Skinner Berry of Elizabeth City NC, and Vivian Skinner Dozier (Walter) of Chesapeake VA, Brothers: Carlton Skinner (Jennifer) of Upper Marlboro, MD and Michael Skinner (Jennifer) of Winterville, NC. He leaves sisters-in-law, Hazel Skinner of Temple Hills MD, Dianne Skinner (Charlie) of St. Albans, NY and Beverly Cooper of Washington DC; brothers-in-law, Allen Taylor of Elizabeth City, NC and Clarence Lightfoot (Shelia) of Oceanside, CA.
